8 More Quick Mastercam Tips

Written by camInstructor Mike | 4/9/22 10:00 AM

If 7 tips were good, 8 tips are better, right?

I said this might turn into a series...here we are with video 2 of the quick tips, 8 tips this time. (how many are needed to be considered a series? doesn't seem like 2 is a series?  guess we'll need at least a third, maybe a forth.)

Taking some inspiration from Spinal Tap this go round, if 11 is louder (better) than 10, that must mean a tip video with 8 tips is better than a tips video with 7 tips!

The 8 tips in this video, first we look at the Sliding Section View for getting a peek at those tough to see nooks and crannies in your parts. Second, how moving a toolpath in your solid tree can help to avoid some features which may produce some unwanted movement. Next, how we can easily deal with converting inch and metric values when in one of the other system units. Then we look at stepping through our backplot with other options than simply clicking the left mouse button repeatedly. Keeping with the middle mouse wheel, the fifth tip is using your mouse scroll wheel to interact with pulldown menu options. A very quick tip for tip #6 but one that is super useful for those coming from an X version of Mastercam, the Command Finder. Tip 7 looks at how you can add comments to your toolpaths and stock models without having to enter into their Parameters. And the final tip, Hide and Un-Hide.

I guess if this is to officially turn into a series of videos, I need to make at least one more! I think I can find a few more, let's hope I can keep the Spinal Tap thinking up and make the next video 9 quick tips!
