New in Mastercam 2019 - Deburr Part 1

Having a look at the new Deburr Toolpath in Mastercam 2019. Part 1 of 2.

A brand new toolpath for Mastercam 2019, MultiAxis Deburr. This is used to break sharp edges on your models...in other words, to deburr your part. This is not to be considered a chamfering toolpath. Chamfering and Deburring are really two different things. If you want to Chamfer, there are other toolpath options. Deburring, we are really just getting rid of that sharp corner.

This new  Deburr toolpath supports the use of two tool types...

  • Ball Endmills
  • Lollopop Endmills

Even though this toolpath is located in the MultiAxis toolpath section, it can be run in different axis output combinations such as 3 axis, 3+2, 4 axis, 4+1, or 5 axis.

Many of the settings can be left in an Automatic mode which lets the software do much of the heavy lifting. With just a few clicks you can have your 5 axis machine dancing around as if it took you all day to make the toolpath. Truly, the easiest way to show off your 5 axis skills.

This is definitely one of my favorite toolpaths in Mastercam.

This first video looks at both a 3 axis Deburr toolpath with a 1/4" Ball Endmill.

Part 2 will explore a 5 axis Deburr toolpath and can be found here...
